Bristol U3A (Bristol University of the Third Age) was started in 1983. We are a "university" in that we cover a universe of interests including Science, Art, Computing, Philosophy, History, Languages, Music, Mathematics, Walking and Textile Skills as well as a variety of games like Whist, Scrabble, Bridge and Mah Jong. Unlike a university we have no entry qualifications and, better still, no examinations. The total emphasis is on self-help education and social activity in the company of like-minded people; all that is needed is enthusiasm.
We meet in these groups during the day at weekly, fortnightly or monthly intervals, either in members' homes or at a suitable location. Each group has a Leader or Convenor, and many of these maintain their own page on this website so you can email them directly with just a click. Full details are on the Groups Page.
Members are kept up-to-date with our Annual Bulletin, Newsletters every 2 months, the National U3A Magazine quarterly, and the Website, which is kept up-dated. Big Print extracts are available.
