Kings Weston Action Group

The Kings Weston Action Group was formed in 2011 in response to the slow decline of the historic landscape of Kings Weston House over the previous decades. The estate has links with the creation of Avonmouth docks, Brunel's ships, the Royal Society and many significant people. Including the Architect Sir John Vanbrugh who designed the house.

We realised the importance of the estate had been largely forgotten and unless somebody stepped forward and addressed that problem then the estates future was very uncertain.

We are working with Bristol City Council and the National trust to help safeguard the future of this valuable landscape. In the process we are involving community members in this process through hands on opportunities like archaeology and landscape restoration, and through educational material.
We also work with people like the Forrest of Avon and Lawrence Weston Community Farm to reach as wide an audience as possible.
