Lifeskills Learning For Living

Every year 30,000 children in the former Avon area require hospital treatment for injuries, many of which could have been prevented through education and training. Lifeskills is a safety education Centre based at the CREATE Centre in Bristol, which aims to help children, adults with learning difficulties and older people to learn about safety in a fun and practical way. There are 10 lifelike scenarios in the Centre, each built like a real-life TV 'set.' Each is designed to illustrate particular hazards and volunteer guides take small groups of children around the scenarios, explaining key safety messages as they go. Many have an exciting, interactive element - much to the surprise and delight of the children. Sessions start at 9:30am and 12:30pm and last around 2 hours 30 minutes. They are planned well ahead and guides book sessions they would like to do. We ask for a minimum of one day (2 sessions) a month.
