Odyssey Foundation

To establish an employment facility enabling those with convictions aged over 25, to gain suitable, progressive and stable employment within society. Almost without exception, most employment agencies and employers have a blanket policy of not engaging with ex-offenders - usually because they have a lack of understanding and sympathy towards those with convictions, so therefore they become socially excluded. There are a few organisations that will support those between 17-24 years, but very little beyond. To enable, encourage and facilitate those over the age of 25 who have convictions back into work placements, leading to paid positions. This will allow them to take responsibility and pride in themselves and to become less reliant on the DWP. Many of these unfortunate group are willing to help themselves progress, but are all so often prevented from starting the journey due to prejudiced employers and many of society.
