We find volunteers to befriend disabled children with to prevent social isolation and promote fun. The volunteers are interviewed and police checked and we ask them to commit for a year. We carefully match them to a child whose interests are similar. The volunteer works either in the home on a one-to-one basis or takes the child out into their local community. By doing this the carers receive a short break from their caring responsibilities therefore reducing stress and fatigue.
