'A civil society is a public space between the state, the market and the ordinary household, in which people can debate and tackle action’. When we act not for profit nor because the law requires us to, but out of love or anger or creativity or principle, we are civil society.

Following on from the work of the Manifesto for Race Equality and its consultation with local communities, Bristol’s Interim Commission for Race Equality has now been established and endorsed by the Mayor for the City of Bristol.  Getting to this point has taken a lot of work and discussion in the background by the Manifesto Working Group (now the Interim Commission for Race Equality).

We will soon be seeking new Commissioners to run the formal Commission for Race Equality and be establishing a new Race Equality network.
