A new study to research the vital contribution made by small and medium-sized charities is underway.
 
The study, led by Sheffield Hallam University's Centre for Regional Economic and Social Research (CRESR) and commissioned by Lloyds Bank Foundation for England and Wales, will take an in-depth look at the social and economic role of small and medium sized charities operating at a local level in England and Wales.

Bristol City Council is now consulting on the Bristol Behaviour Change for healthier lifestyles programme, which is designed to meet the needs of people in the city who wish to change their lifestyle behaviour.

This programme represents a significant change to the current service provision for the lifestyle factors of diet, smoking, physical activity, alcohol and the NHS Health Check programme.

This is an opportunity to add the experience and expertise of the VCSE sector to the conversation.

The National LGB&T Partnership is a partnership of eleven LGB&T organisations across England working together to reduce health inequalities and challenge homophobia, biphobia and transphobia within public services. 
 
The Partnership has just published two new resources aimed at supporting local LGBT organisations to push for further engagement from commissioners and those involved in policy development.

The results of the Metro Mayor election are in, with Conservative Tim Bowles winning by a small margin - 4,377 votes ahead of Labour's Lesley Mansell.

The West of England Civil Society Partnership (WoECSP) is a registered Community Interest Company established by Voluntary, Community and Social Enterprise sector (VCSE) infrastructure and support organisations across the West of England . The partnership, originally established in 2011, brings together Voscur, CVS South Gloucestershire, The Care Forum, Voluntary Action North Somerset, Wesport, West of England Rural Network and the newly formed B&NES Third Sector Group.

Thursday 4 May 2017 sees an historic election for the first Mayor for the new West of England Combined Authority (WECA), covering Bath & North East Somerset, Bristol and South Gloucestershire.

A guide to the processes of commissioning. This guide was written for people who help others to write bids (e.g. staff in development agencies such as Voscur) but it may also be useful for groups who deliver services directly.

This briefing session is for Bristol community organisations and small businesses. It will include an update on the implementation of Bristol City Council’s Social Value Policy in its first year and what the policy has delivered to date. Participants will find out more about how the council asks bidders to offer social value in tenders and provide the opportunity to discuss their approaches to social value.
