This Volunteers’ Week (1-7 June), Voscur has joined forces with Bristol City Council and Can Do Bristol to thank the city’s COVID-19 pandemic volunteers, from those who’ve done odd jobs or tasks for neighbours, to those who formally volunteer with a local organisation.

We want you to get involved both online and offline, thanking the people and organisations that have made a difference in your community during these testing times. Here’s how…

Add your message to one of nine local ‘Wall of Thanks’ areas in Bristol community centres. Each Wall of Thanks has blank postcards for you to fill in, thanking whoever has helped you during the pandemic. You’ll find them at:

  • Co-op, 100 Holloway Road, BS14 8PG.
  • Easton Community Centre, Kilburn Street, BS5 6AW.
  • Ebenezer Church, 286 Filton Ave, BS7 0BA.
  • Felix Road Adventure Playground, Easton, BS5 0JW.
  • St George Community Centre, 18 Lyndale Road, BS5 7AA.
  • St Paul's Adventure Playground, Fern St, St Paul's, BS2 9LN.
  • The Greenway Centre, Greenway Centre, Doncaster Road, BS10 5PY.
  • The New Room, 36 The Horsefair, BS1 3JE.
  • The Park, Daventry Road, BS4 1DQ.

There’s a virtual Wall of Thanks as well, which is perfect if you’re unable to get to one of the local venues above. You just have to fill out a short online form nominating your chosen person, then Bristol City Council will ask their permission to be included in the virtual wall.

You can also share your messages of thanks on social media. Use the hashtag #BristolVolunteers as well as the national hashtag #VolunteersWeek to get noticed. If you’re part of an organisation that uses volunteers, show everyone what they mean to you.

Lastly, take some time to watch Bristol City Council’s video, called ‘A time to say thanks’, which includes representatives from organisations across the city, such as the Chief Executive of Voscur.

Don’t miss out on the chance to get involved in Volunteers’ Week and celebrate the hard work of people who volunteer for all kinds of good causes.
