Avon Wildlife Trust is at an exciting stage of change, with ambitions to seek new ways of raising funds that will support and enable People to Take Action for Nature.

This role will be pivotal, working alongside the commercial development manager on key commercial projects, helping to set up new initiatives and enhancing current processes.  We aim to have a core team of volunteers in this area, and as a Commercial Development Volunteer you would help support other volunteers.

We have ambitious plans so we need someone who is motivated, organised and can get things done. This role could be well suited to a career changer, retired person or anyone who has experience of planning and coordinating tasks at any scale. You will be challenged and in return, you’ll gain a unique experience, whilst helping Avon Wildlife Trust tackle the climate emergency.  This is your opportunity to utilise your unique skills to help make a positive impact to the environment.

Tasks may include any or all of the following:

  • Key projects:
  • supporting commercial development in existing areas, including the online shop and existing commercial services
  • Supporting the development of new and exciting projects, such as a mobile coffee van, a pop-up shop and a visitor centre
  • Support the planning, documenting and executing developmental projects
  • Helping to build and support a volunteer team
  • Demonstration and delegation of tasks
  • Positive and informative engagement with the public

Desireable attributes and skills

  • Ready to take on a challenge and be a key team member on our wonderful organisation
  • Experience of project planning and management, coordinating, problem solving, effective teamworking
  • An enthusiastic and highly organised work ethic
  • A highly focussed approach to completing tasks
  • Able to oversee and direct other volunteers
  • Ability to listen, learn and take not with a view to becoming more autonomous
  • Being able to document your learning and successfully train up others, as required
  • Experience of leading others and/or commercial activities would be an advantage but not essential
  • Excellent administration skills will be an advantage.
