Milestones Trust support people with learning disabilities, mental health needs and dementia in the Bristol area to live as they choose. Our person-centred services include residential and nursing care homes, day services, home care and supported living.
We currently have several residential homes where the residents would like volunteers to support in maintaining their garden, to make it a nice pleasant area for them to enjoy when the weather is good.
Ideally you will have some gardening skills and experience, and you are able to visit the home half a day weekly (or two weekly would also be fine) to maintain the garden, which will involve; digging, weeding, planting, cutting back, mowing the lawn and maintaining raised beds.
We will match you up with a home that is as local to you as possible.
The Home Manager will complete an induction with you, which will help familiarise you with the home and the residents. The Home Manager will ensure you have all the equipment you need to complete the garden tasks, and will support you to involve the residents when suitable.
If this is something you would like to get involved in please get in touch, we would love to hear from you!
Please note as our residents are vulnerable adults a DBS check will be carried out and references will be taken up.
