Circles South West helps protect our communities by contributing to the safe inclusion of people with convictions for sexual offending, or with harmful sexual behaviour.
Small groups of carefully trained and selected volunteers meet regularly, providing 'Circles of Support and Accountability', holding individuals to account for their behaviour and supporting their safe reintegration into the community. Circles work closely with the responsible statutory organisations.
We are recruiting volunteers across the South West to work with adults convicted of sexual offences. In addition, we are excited to be adapting the Circles model to work with others who have harmed sexually:
• adults with intellectual disabilities, Avon
• young people (14-17), Bristol
• young adults (18-20), South West wide
• adults serving prison sentences for sexual offences, starting the Circle in prison and continuing on release into the community for those resettling in Bristol, Devon, Cornwall, and Somerset.
Circles' Volunteers are from all walks of life and of all ages. They are emotionally stable and approachable people who have a mature outlook. They combine an empathic approach with the ability to maintain firm boundaries.
The most effective Circles are those that meet frequently over an extended period of time. We therefore ask Volunteers to commit to a couple of hours per week for 12-18 months.
To equip you for this challenging and rewarding role, you will have full training, ongoing professional support and expenses reimbursed. Your appointment requires satisfactory references and an Enhanced DBS Check.
