Community organisations that own or manage a building or outdoor space that’s used for a wide range of community activities can apply for interest free loans of up to £50,000 for up to 5 years to develop their trading activities and generate a more sustainable income.

The Trusthouse Charitable Foundation is offering Community Centres in deprived urban communities and Village Halls in remote and economically deprived rural areas the opportunity to apply for capital grants of between £7,500 and £60,000. Grants can be used to fund new buildings; upgrading, renovating or extending buildings; improving or creating outside space (but not car parks). All applicants must have secured 50% of the total cost of the work and have local community fundraising underway.

Community Business Bright Ideas Fund

The Community Business Bright Ideas Fund is now open for new community groups, registered charities and CICs in England that want to become a business or are already operating as a business. Small grants of up to £15,000 are provided by Power to Change; 150 community businesses have been awarded funding since 2016.

Charities and not for profit organisations such as co-operatives, parish and town councils can apply for grants of up to £350,000 for the repair, restoration and adaptation of a heritage building located in a high street or town centre and to bring it back into use.

The funding is being made available through the Architectural Heritage Fund’s Transformational Project Grants.

Grants from People's Postcode Lottery to combat isolation and increase health

Registered charities and community groups can apply for grants of £500 - £20,000 for projects that benefit communities through grass-roots sports, arts and recreation programmes, and healthy living initiatives that improve a community's physical and mental health.

Please note that only registered charities can apply for grants above £2,000.

People's Postcode Lottery grants for environmental projects

The Postcode Local Trust, which is a grant-giving body funded by players of People's Postcode Lottery, has re-opened for applications. The Trust provides financial support for charities and good causes which help communities enhance their natural environment whilst benefitting the wider local area.
