Sport England has widened its Small Grants programme to provide support for projects that deliver environmental benefits for local communities. The programme will not only provide funding to encourage greater participation in sport and physical activity, but it will also award grants of up to £15,000 for projects that benefit the environment. This could include purchasing locally made equipment, using local community assets to minimise travel, energy meters to help reduce energy usage, or recycling or re-using sports equipment to reduce and eliminate waste.

UK registered charities can apply for grants of up to £7,000 for projects that improve the quality of life of older people. The funding, which is made available through the Charles Hayward Foundation’s Small Grants programme, will support preventative and early intervention programmes that help older people to stay in their own homes and remain independent.

Applications are invited from charities and not-for-profit organisations in England and Wales for projects that help disabled or disadvantaged people connect with nature and the countryside.

The CLA Charitable Trust supports projects that improve the physical and mental health and wellbeing of people who are disabled or disadvantaged by helping them to visit and participate in recreational and educational opportunities in the countryside.

Schools, youth groups, not for profit organisations and charities can apply for grants of £500 to £2,750 to support recreational trips or holidays within the UK for groups of disabled or disadvantaged children (aged 13 or under).

Priority will be given to applications coming from the 20% most deprived areas in the UK. Funded by the Henry Smith Charity, grants can cover up to two-thirds of the cost of a holiday or trip lasting one to seven days.

UK registered charities, Community Land Trusts and housing co-operatives can now apply for grants of between £25,000 and £60,000 to support their work in tackling housing issues affecting vulnerable people.

Bristol volunteer-led funder Redistro will be accepting applications from 27th March. Local, grassroots groups are invited to apply for a grant of up to £1,000. The deadline for applications is Monday 1st May.

Schools and not for profit organisations have the opportunity to apply for funding through the Wooden Spoon Society's Capital Grants programme. Wooden Spoon is the British and Irish Rugby charity which supports projects help mentally, physically disadvantaged children. Each year the charity supports around 70 projects.

The McCarthy Stone Foundation, a charitable organisation focused on improving the quality of life for older people in the UK, has announced that applications for Dementia Action Week 2023 will open on May 1st, 2023. Grants will be available to support intergenerational activities that bring a sense of purpose and energy to older people and those living with dementia while helping reduce loneliness and depression.
