Bristol Safeguarding Children Board will be holding a CSG Masterclass for those nominated as CSG champions on 16 April. Nominations need to be received by 28 February.

Once the list of champions has been received, the board will finalise its list in order to ensure good representation across the service.

This free event, with lunch provided, is part of the Youth Sector Support Fund (YSSF) work carried out by Voscur, Quartet Community Foundation and Bristol City Council. The YSSF helps youth-focused organisations from the Voluntary, Community and Social Enterprise (VCSE) sector reach more young people and be more sustainable.

Four projects based in Bristol have been awarded funding through the government’s £11.5 million Building Connections loneliness fund.

The Education Secretary Damian Hinds has announced an additional £250 million to councils over the next two years to support children with Special Educational Needs (SEND).

The other £100 million will be used to create more specialist places in mainstream schools, with aim of giving more children and young people access to a good school or college place that meets their individual needs.

The government has announced a new VCSE Health and Wellbeing Fund for organisations that support children and young people with their mental health.

The Bristol City Council team that supports young people that are in trouble with the law has been rated as ‘requires improvement’ by Her Majesty’s Inspectorate of Probation.

The Bristol Youth Offending Team (YOT) was told that it needed to look again at its staffing levels, and do more to support children and young people who have offended to get a sufficient education.
