Online charity donation habits

A new report on how the public engages with charities online has shown that 44% of people have donated digitally, and that older people’s online donations make a significant contribution.

The report, based on a survey of over 2,000 people by Reason Digital and Populus, found that:

Twitter is an important social media platform for any voluntary organisation, community group or social enterprise.

You may not have used Twitter before, or maybe you have a personal account and you need to tackle tweeting for work purposes. It’s harder to use Twitter as an organisation than as an individual user – you want to make a good impression, grow your followers, and promote your cause.

Instagram donation sticker launches in UK

Following a successful trial in the USA, Instagram has rolled out a new charity donation sticker which UK users of the social media platform can add to their Instagram Stories.

The electronic sticker acts like a ‘donate’ button, directing people to donate to a charity or non-profit of the Instagram user’s choice. UK charities can register to be added to the list of organisations that Instagram donors choose from. 100% of the donation goes to the organisation.

 

This is the final part of a toolkit that summarises a suite of resources and tools developed by DOT PROJECT in partnership with key experts as part of the Charity Digital Leaders programme.
