Involvement Opportunity: to help develop guidance on co-producing research 

How can researchers, healthcare staff and public contributors collaborate to develop health and social care research in a more equal way?

VolTrain is for volunteer youth workers in Bristol and includes practical workshops on key areas of working with young people.

 

This session will give you an introduction to mentoring young people. You will learn about the different stages in a mentoring relationship, and the practicalities, responsibilities and boundaries necessary to act as a mentor to young people.

This is a one day training course designed to develop participants’ knowledge and understanding of self-injury. The course will consider why people self-injure and what their needs might be, as well as how workers can provide helpful responses to self-injury. Participants will have the opportunity to reflect on their own practice and identify some of the challenges that they might encounter when working with people who use self-injury. The training will explore how to manage these challenges and use strategies to help reduce self-injury and relieve distress of clients.

The Volunteer Organisers’ Forum was a valuable forum for volunteer coordinators across the city to come together, share best practice and network. There has been some interest from several quarters in re-establishing the forum and we are pleased to say that a group of us have decided to get things up and running again.  Please note that this event was previously organised by Voscur, but is now being organised by 1625IP, UWE Volunteering and University of Bristol Students' Union.
